Hi -
it's good to see that there are more gay and lesbian people who don't give up on their beliefs and the church, even under a pope that sees the acceptance of gay life partnerships as a danger to world peace.

I was part of a glbt gathering at WYD2005 in Cologne -
I'm not sure if we did the right thing (it's always hard to find a balance between being proud+positive and being obnoxious or disrespectful, but I think it worked out fine in the end -
Benedict didn't seem to care very much though, and the representation of the proceedings in public media was obviously under tight control of the church itself.

Wishing you all the best!

Hi there,

I found your blog on my travels through the internet. I"m involved in organising a forum called "Is there a place for gay & lesbian Catholic youth in the Church?" to be held during WYD. If you could mention it on your blog I'd be incredibly greatful, I think you'll read a lot of people who need to know about it.

It’s not a protest, and it’s not meant to be confrontational to the Catholic Church at all… it will just explore ways that it’s possible to be GLBT or queer, fully embrace one’s sexual identity and not compromise one’s faith…

If you have any questions don't hesitate to email.
